Our Property
Turners 1816 House was built circa 1816 by Isaac Turner, a veteran from the War of 1812. The house stayed with the Turner family and their relatives in the Cole family and Brundage family for many generations. Throughout the years, the house has gone through several renovations both external and internal. The most recent renovations, which were done in 2017, include upgrading all the bathrooms with new plumbing and state of the art fixtures.
Common areas within the house include the dining room, living room and screened porch; we also have outside seating on our side deck with pergola. The dining room has – a large table which seats 4 to 6 (can be expanded to seat 8 -10) . The dining room opens to our cozy living room which has antique as well as contemporary furnishings. Here you will find books describing the history of the area as well as books by contemporary local authors and. Feel free to peruse at any time of day or night.
A favorite area is our elevated screened porch – where you can always feel a breeze from the bay and gaze over the peaceful back yard and woods. Or you may also find a spot you like in the back yard, under one of our huge shade trees.
If you’d like some exercise before (or after) breakfast there is a walking trail at the edge of the property and the entrance to the State Park is right across the street – where a mile’s walk will take you to the beach and Lake Ontario. Or, if you prefer, head downtown and drop in on a yoga or fitness class, or check out the local artwork and unique products at one of our art galleries or gift shops.
